Sweeps Hill

The John Kiely-trained Sweeps Hill looked really good in landing the bumper on the final day of Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting, showing a fine turn of foot a furlong and a half out to settle the contest in a matter of strides. This is traditionally a decent bumper, and it looked to be up to scratch this year, with six previous winners lining up. The form of the race is solid, with Rhyl Accord and Hugo De Vindecy, the form picks of those who had raced, filling second and third places. This was an impressive performance from Sweeps Hill, not only because this was his racecourse debut, but also because, although he is officially five years old on January 1st, the reality is that, as a Southern Hemisphere native, he just turned four on November 30th. He is a really exciting prospect.
