You’re The Top

You’re The Top was travelling well in a Class 3 novices’ handicap hurdle, the first race of 2009, at Cheltenham, when he came down at the second last. He was weak in the market beforehand, but he was going so well that he had to have been involved, and might even have prevailed. It was only a Class 3 event, but it was a decent race which was run at a good pace, and this was only You’re The Top’s third run over hurdles. On his previous run, he had finished third behind Karabak, who had run Mad Max to a length on his previous outing, and Mahonia, who would probably have been sent off as favourite for last week’s abandoned Tolworth Hurdle. As long as You’re The Top is none the worse for this spill, there is at least a similar contest in him, and probably a better one.
