Bob ‘N’ You

Bob ‘N’ You put in a nice performance to finish third in the three mile handicap hurdle at Aintree last week. In a race that was run at a steady pace as Bon ‘N’ You was held up in the early stages and was quite badly hampered at the second hurdle, when Whinstone Boy fell in front of him. He took a while to get back into stride. He jumped the next well though and got back into a rhythm, travelling nicely. Brennan asked him to pick up turning for home, and he jumped into second at the second last, but Ringaroses had taken it up here and had gone two or three lengths clear. The leader was not for catching but Bob ‘N’ You stayed on really well for pressure and only just got worn down on the line by Carsonstown Boy for second.

Considering he was 28lb higher than when he was completing a hat-trick over course and distance back in October, this was a really good performance from Bob ‘N’ You. He was value for more than the winning distance suggested that day and he appreciated a return to handicap company here after running in a Grade 2 hurdle at Cheltenham and giving weight away in novice company at Bangor. He may have been closer here had he not been hampered by the fall of Whinstone Boy at the second hurdle, that knocked him off his stride a bit and he did well to settle back into the race. The pace was steady throughout so he did well to get into it from off the pace. The winner had the run of the race, and could be very good.

Bob ‘N’ You was set a couple of stiff tasks before this, he ran ok in that Grade 2 event at Cheltenham, getting outpaced turning for home against the likes of General Miller and Restless Harry. He then had to give weight away to a good mare in Silver Kate in a novice event at Bangor. He obviously likes Aintree and he showed he is still progressing here. He needs decent ground, three miles and a decent pace to be seen at his best.
