Oldjoesaid ran well to finish fourth behind Ingleby Lady in a six-furlong handicap at York on Friday. Settled in behind the front rank nicely in the early stages, he got checked a little just as he was starting to make his move. He wouldn’t have beaten the winner, he may not have even finished any better than fourth, but the front four finished clear of the rest of the field. Also, this was just Oldjoesaid’s second run for Kevin Ryan, and it was a significant step up on his debut for the trainer, who excels with sprinters. On top of that, he will be better when dropped back down to five furlongs, ideally on easier ground than this. There could be a big sprint handicap in him next time.
