Bintalwaadi

Bintalwaadi put up a decent performance when finishing second in the Class 3 one-mile handicap at Nottingham last Wednesday won by Decorative. Ed Dunlop’s filly proved difficult to load beforehand, but once she came out she raced with plenty of enthusiasm and went into the lead under Richard Hills. She set a decent pace down the back, but Hills slowed it down just before the home turn and then wound it up again as they straightened. She ran on well from here and only Decorative came out of the chasing pack to challenge her. Michael Jarvis’s filly was ultimately too good for her and the pair finished six lengths clear of the useful Subtefuge.

This was a promising run from Bintalwaadi. Decorative looks a like a smart filly (she held a 1000 Guineas entry at the start of the year), and Bintalwaadi gave her a race, admittedly under an enterprising ride from Richard Hills. Bintalwaadi won her maiden readily at Lingfield on her previous start despite running greenly, and this was only her third run, so she is likely to improve again with more experience. A 5lb raise for this effort is fair. Her action suggests that she should be okay on easy ground, she may even improve for it, and she is out of a Darshaan mare, so a step up in trip could see her to even better effect.
