For Non Stop

Mentioned here for a really good run behind Grands Crus at Cheltenham in November, For Non Stop remains a horse to follow, even after what looked like a disappointing effort in the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle at Newbury on Wednesday. The fog that transpired on the day denied visibility and a proper analysis of the race, but from what the commentator following the field around the track told us, For Non Stop appeared to be prominent throughout and in front with Backspin heading to the third last hurdle. By the time they came back into vision for a short period of time on the run in, Backspin was on his own in front and For Non Stop trailed in in what seemed to be a disappointing well-beaten fourth position.

Connections reported afterwards that they were delighted with the way For Non Stop ran. It had been reported that he missed a lot of work due to the weather conditions at home prior to this and Daryl Jacob said he just blew up at the second last. Given that, you can probably excuse him this performance, and he looks worth another look again next time out.

The son of Alderbrook’s run behind Grands Crus at Cheltenham remains an excellent piece of form considering David Pipe’s horse is now rated 158, 32lb higher than the mark off which he ran there. For Non Stop could now be underrated after this. A mark of 135 still looks lenient. He could be a Coral Cup horse.
