I am backing Martello Tower today at 12/1 for the Albert Bartlett Hurdle. He looks tailor-made for this race.

He stayed on really well to beat Outlander over three miles on heavy ground at Limerick in December, giving him 6lb. He was beaten by Outlander at Leopardstown in January, but that was over two and a half miles. He came under pressure early that day and, while he couldn’t match Outlander’s turn of foot, he still kept on well up the hill to retain second place, with good horses behind him.

He is all stamina, and the return to three miles for the Albert Bartlett will suit. He won his only point-to-point and he won a Grade 3 race over three miles at Cork in early November, and owner Barry Connell says that this race has been the plan all season.
