Last year’s Cambridgeshire winner, Prince Of Johanne is 9lb higher than for that big success but, judged on his reappearance run at York, he still has more to offer. He did really well to win the Cambridgeshire from out in the centre, only edging across to join those on the near side late on, and he had a little in hand at the line. He was only beaten a nose by Fury at York five weeks ago, he had several of these in behind that day, and there is no obvious reason why they should turn the form around today.

Prince of Johanne is up another 2lb today, up to a mark of 100, but he is in the form of his life, Tom Tate is eking out more and more improvement from him, and it is probable that, if he was trained by a more fashionable trainer, he would be much closer to the head of the betting than he is.

He is drawn right down the near side in stall 33, that has historically been a good draw, he can bounce out from there and adopt a handy position behind probable near-side front-runner Brae Hill, and if the near side do come out on top then he has a big chance.
