Solid Stone

Solid Stone ran well to finish third in the 10-furlong handicap. Nicely settled by David Egan just behind the pace early on, he was short of a little bit of room at the two-furlong marker when his rider wanted to go forward. He wasn’t an unlucky loser or anything, he got into the clear on time and, actually, the winner Hyanna came from behind him. But he kept on well once in the clear and through traffic to take third place behind Hyanna and Migration.

It was a nice run from Sir Michael Stoute’s horse, back up to 10 furlongs after two runs over a mile, and it promised more. He saw out the trip well too, and he should be able to progress again now over this trip. It was just his ninth run and, a three-year-old who represents Sir Michael Stoute and Saeed Suhail, it will be interesting to monitor his progress. He is a half-brother to Cameron Highland, who was at his best in the latter part of his three-year-old season and as a four-year-old, and over 10 and 12 furlongs, and to Field Of Miracles, who was beaten a short head in the Ribbledale Stakes.
