Romantic Proposal

Romantic Proposal put up a nice performance to win the fillies’ seven-furlong maiden. Always travelling well for Declan McDonogh, just behind the front rank, she showed a nice turn of foot on the run to the furlong marker. She hit the front a furlong out, and she stretched all the way to the line, putting over a length between herself and Lovee Dovee, who in turn came nicely away from the rest of the field.

It was a nice performance from Eddie Lynam’s filly. She showed a smart turn of foot and a willing attitude, and she appeared to win with at least a little more than the bare winning margin in hand. Unraced as a juvenile, this was her fifth run, and it was her best yet. She may have appreciated the drop down from a mile to seven furlongs. The handicapper raised her by 3lb to a mark of 71, and she would be of interest in a handicap off that type of mark. She has lots of scope to progress, and she handles easy ground well, which should be an asset as we move into the autumn.
