Stylistique

Stylistique ran a fine race to finish second in the Rockfel Stakes. Settled towards the rear of the field early on, she made nice progress on the outside of her field for Frankie Dettori. While she couldn’t match the finishing kick of her stable companion Daahyeh, she stayed on well down the outside to take second place behind her, in front of Cloak Of Spirits and Under The Stars. She was only fourth with 100 yards to run, she did well to get up for second.

This was a career-best from Roger Varian’s filly, and she came from further back than the other three fillies who, with her, filled the first four places. She hasn’t won yet, but this was just her fifth race, and it was significant that Roger Varian was happy to allow her take her chance in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes, as a maiden, despite the fact that he had the favourite for the race. She gets this seven furlongs well, and she raced here as if she would do better over a mile. She remains progressive and she remains of interest.
