Past Winners » Tomorrow’s Dream

28th-Jul-2020

I thought that Tomorrow’s Dream should be shorter here than she is.  William Haggas’ filly was a little unlucky at Newbury on Saturday.  She travelled well just behind the leaders, but the field moved over on top of her onto the stands rail, and suddenly she was needing gaps.

They didn’t appear, Hollie Doyle had to move her well off the rail, and had to fight for racing room, so she did well to run on as well as she did to take second place behind Festive Star, who had enjoyed a clear run down the stands rail.  Even so, she still had the well-fancied Huboor back in third.

The handicapper raised Tomorrow’s Dream by 3lb to a mark of 84, which is fine.  If she had won the Newbury race, and she would have gone close if she had had a clear run, she would have got more.  The winner got 6lb.

On her previous run, Tomorrow’s Dream had looked good in winning a handicap at Chepstow, and she proved last time that she was well able for a step up in class.  Angel Power is a worthy favourite, but Tomorrow’s Dream should be closer to her in the betting than she is in my book.
