Lady Frankel

Lady Frankel should have finished closer than she did in the Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet. Held up in behind early on off a sedate pace, she travelled well into the home straight, but she was hampered when she went for a run on the run to the 2f marker, she was buffeted about a little, and she was hampered again by Wilamina on the rail shortly thereafter. Then Pierre-Charles Boudot had to wait for a few strides before he could get a run up on the inside of I’m So Fancy. It is difficult to know how she would have fared with a clearer run, but she finished off her race well, probably with plenty of energy left. She would almost certainly have finished third with a clear run, and she would have been a lot closer to Nonza and Urban Fox than she was.

Andre Fabre’s filly won a Group 3 race last year as a three-year-old, her first season to race, and she finished a close-up third behind Rhododendron and Hydrangea and in front of Wuheida in the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera on her final run of last season, when she was sent off a 40/1 shot. This was just her second run this term, so there is a good chance that she will progress for it. She stays this 10f trip and she goes well on soft ground, so she will remain of interest as the ground softens.
