Thoughts’n Prayers

Thoughts’n Prayers put up a most encouraging performance on her racecourse debut to finish fifth behind Heishybrid on her racecourse debut at Leopardstown on Thursday. She was very slowly away, she was about two and a half lengths behind the second last horse after they had gone a hundred yards, and the negative impact of her slow start was accentuated by the fact that they didn’t go a great pace. Jamie Powell got to the front on Heishybrid from stall one, and he stacked the field up as they raced out of the back straight and towards the home turn. Thoughts’n Prayers was back in the field and around the inside as they turned for home, and she kept on well up the inside for Joey Sheridan, despite the fact that she didn’t have a whole lot of racing room. She was fastest of all through the final two furlongs, and she surely could have gone faster still had she had more racing room. In the end, she was only two lengths behind the winner.

It was a nice performance by Fozzy Stack’s filly. The first foal out of an unraced Gale Force Ten mare, a half-sister to Killavullan Stakes winner Stonemason, she should be able to build on this now. She had no high-profile entries, but she should be winning her maiden soon before stepping up in grade.
