Park Princess
Park Princess was unlucky not to win the listed mares' novices' hurdle at Haydock on the Saturday before Christmas. She travelled well from early for Ben Godfrey, just behind the leader Walks The Talk. She travelled well into the home straight, and she moved to the front over the second last flight, staying against the inside rail as the leader hung towards the centre of the track. She had set up what looked like a race-winning advantage on the run to the final flight, but she lost concentration there, had to be checked and jumped the flight with no momentum. She was passed by Supreme Malinas at that point, and she could have faded to finish third or fourth, but she rallied gamely, re-generated her momentum and almost got back up, failing by just a nose to catch Supreme Malinas.
This was a big run by Anthony Honeyball's mare on just her second run over hurdles. Winner of one of her three bumpers, she was impressive in winning her maiden hurdle at Ludlow on her hurdling bow in early November. This was obviously a big step up in grade, but she proved that she was up to this level. She is only five and this was just her second run over hurdles and just her fifth run under all codes, she has lots of potential for further progression.
