Anotherway
Anotherway was impressive in winning the rated two-mile novices' chase at Down Royal on Tuesday. Settled just behind the leader He's Gorgeous by JJ Slevin through the early stages of the race, his jumping was very good, and he was able to lie up easily with the pace. He and Sky Lord moved up on the inside to challenge the leader on the run to the second last fence, both horses apparently travelling well, but Anotherway travelled better on the run to the last, and he cleared away on the run-in to win impressively.
This was much more like it from Simon Munir and Isaac Souede's horse. A 12-length winner of his maiden hurdle in January two years ago when he was with Willie Mullins, he was travelling well in a Grade 2 contest at Fairyhouse next time when he came down at the second last flight. He didn't win again after that until Tuesday but, now with Tom Gibney, he had been building towards it. Sent over fences this season, he shaped encouragingly at Limerick on St Stephen's Day, when he finished off his race well to finish a close-up third behind Moudan and No Flies On Him, and this was a step forward from that. He was racing in this rated race off a chase mark of 120, which is 10lb lower than his hurdles mark, but he has the potential now to be at least as good over fences as he was over hurdles, possibly even better. This two-mile trip is a good trip for him, he can travel and jump at two-mile pace, and he handles soft and heavy ground well.
