Eichan San
Eichan San kept on well to finish fourth in the six-furlong handicap at The Curragh on Sunday. Settled in mid-division in the far side group early on by Diego Lima from his draw in stall one, he started to make his ground from the two-furlong marker. It never really looked like he was going to get to the winner Bint Majestic Roi, who came down the near side, but there was a lot to like about the manner in which he finished off his race on the far side to finish fourth.
The first three home all raced down the near side from high draws, Danny Murphy's horse did best of the low-drawn horses, and he was drawn lowest of all. Also, he was only 11th passing the two-furlong marker, at which stage the first three home occupied the first three places. Zero for four in maidens last season as a three-year-old, he finished down the field in handicaps in each of his first two races this season. This was much more like it though and, a four-year-old who has raced just seven times now, he should be able to build on this. Rated 73 after his first two races last season, there should be a handicap in him off this mark of 66. He stayed seven furlongs well at Galway last year, up the final incline, and he could do even better now stepped back up in trip.
