Jm Jungle
Jm Jungle put up a good performance to finish fourth in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. Smartly away, he travelled well in the front rank in the near-side group. The far-side group dominated the race, with Night Raider leading from flagfall over there, and runner-up Rumstar moving over to join him and third-placed Shagraan through the final furlong and a half. Jm Jungle came under a ride on the run into the Dip, but he stuck to his task well and finished off nicely to take fourth place.
This was the Quinns' horse's first run of the season and, weak in the market beforehand, he should be able to move on from this now. He had never run at Newmarket before this, but we know that he is good at York, four of his best six runs have been there, so he will be of interest if and when he goes back to York. Also, he won the Group 2 King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last year on his only run at that track to date, so he will be of interest there again if he bids for a repeat this season. The balance of his form suggests that he is at his best on fast ground, but he coped with good to soft okay at Goodwood last year.
