Velozee

It might pay to retain faith in Velozee, despite the fact that she could finish only fourth in the Group 3 Fillies' Sprint Stakes at Naas on Sunday. Paddy Twomey's filly travelled through her race well, she was still on the bridle on the run to the furlong marker, but it appeared as if she tired from there. The front two got away from her, and she was just done for third place by the fast-finishing Dancing Destiny.

It looked like the sixth furlong and up the hill at Naas just found her out. It was her first foray beyond five furlongs. Also, the race came up just 13 days after she won the Listed First Flier Stakes at The Curragh. It may have been a quick enough turnaround for her. She was very good in winning the First Flier over the minimum trip. She was impressive in beating What A Girl Wants and New Yorker, who both took a step forward at Naas on Sunday. It looked like she was all speed that day, she dipped below 11 seconds in three of her five furlongs, and she will be interesting again now when she drops back down to the minimum trip. The Queen Mary at Royal Ascot is a legitimate target.
