Bosphorus Rose
Bosphorus Rose only finished fifth in the end in the Group 3 Give Thanks Stakes at Cork last Friday, but she ran better than that. She was just keener than ideal through the early stages of the race as she headed up the main body of the field. She travelled well into her race, it looked like she was going to be a big player when she moved up on the outside of the leader Snapretend on the run to the two-furlong marker, but her early exertions obviously took their toll and she couldn't sustain her effort. Even so, she was beaten just over two lengths by the winner Believed, and she was beaten a nose and a short head for third.
It was another fine run by Paddy Twomey's filly. Third behind subsequent Irish Oaks third and Yorkshire Oaks runner-up Sparan Nua in the Munster Oaks on her first run tor Twomey, she was really impressive next time in winning the Listed Lenabane Stakes at Roscommon next time. She proved that day that she could settle and quicken off a moderate pace over a mile and a half. She may be under-rated next time on the back of this defeat, she should be able to resume her progression now. She stays a mile and a half, she stays further, but she has plenty of pace, so she would be interesting too if she dropped her back to 10 furlongs.
