Force Noir
Force Noir did remarkably well to go as close as he did in the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. Supplemented to the race and backed at big prices beforehand, he led from early at a fast pace. He came under a ride from David Egan on the run into the Dip, but he found plenty in front, only just giving best to Norfolk Stakes winner Orthodox close home.
It was a massive run by Robson Aguiar's horse, a career-best by a fair way, and fully justified the decision to supplement him to the race. He was well behind Orthodox in the Norfolk, but he was good in winning at Dundalk over five furlongs next time on his first run since re-joining his current trainer, and this was a big step up on that, stepping up to six furlongs for the first time. He did well to keep on as well as he did, having set a fast pace, his finishing speed of just over 97% of overall speed. He proved his ability too to operate over six furlongs, and that opens up options. He could get further too in time.
