Give It Time

Give It Time set too fast a pace in the two-and-a-half-mile hurdle at Navan last Sunday. Admittedly she was a distance clear at the end of the back straight, but it is a long way home from there on heavy ground at Navan, and the mare was treading water by the time she reached the second last flight. She probably just failed to stay two and a half miles against the geldings in the Lismullen Hurdle last time, so it was surprising that she wasn't ridden with more restraint here. Hopefully this race hasn't taken too much out of her. She remains a live prospect for the David Nicholson mares' race at Cheltenham. She should see out the distance on better ground and against her own gender if she is ridden with more restraint.
