Pause And Clause
Pause And Clause looked really good in landing a two-mile-five-furlong novices' hurdle at Kempton on Saturday. Sent to the front from early by Jack Doyle, the son of Saddlers' Hall did everything easily, he travelled well, jumped nimbly and accurately, and quickened up nicely at the top of the home straight to come readily clear of Helpston in the home straight.
Apparently it wasn't the plan beforehand to make the running, but once Pause And Clause got there, he pricked his ears and appeared to enjoy himself. The ground was soft enough at Kempton on Saturday, but trainer Emma Lavelle and rider Jack Doyle both feel that he will be even better suited by better ground. He was entered for the Ballymore Properties after he finished second to Mad Max at Newbury as the trainer felt that he would improve for that run, and that appears to have been the case. His jumping is now fast and accurate, and he is a live outsider for the Ballymore Properties now.
