Fix The Rib

Mentioned here before when he beat Pepsyrock at Kempton in January, Fix The Rib went in again at Fontwell last month and is worthy of another mention after he gave Free World a comprehensive beating at Kempton on Saturday.

His performance was pretty much flawless. He led from early, met every fence in his stride, whizzed around the home turn and came home eight lengths clear of Free World, with more than that left in the tank. Free World is also a front-runner, but it looked as if Christian Williams had decided to let Fix The Rib at it and try to pick him up on the home straight. He never got close.

Fix The Rib just looks better and better as time goes on. His beating of Pepsyrock looks even better now in the light of that horse's subsequent two wins and rise of 18lb in official ratings. Fix The Rib himself has also obviously progressed from there. Trainer Gary Moore is considering the Red Rum Chase at Aintree for him next, which makes a lot of sense, even though he is still a novice. Novices have won five of the last seven runnings of that race. Fix The Rib's cruising speed and fluent jumping seem to be well suited by flat tracks, he is most progressive and should be worth following wherever he goes next.
