Monsieur Chevalier
Monsieur Chevalier was a really impressive winner of a five-furlong Class 3 conditions stakes at Newmarket last Wednesday. Covered up nicely in the early part of the race, Richard Hughes switched him towards the near side two furlongs out to deliver his challenge, and he picked up impressively out of The Dip, scooting clear to win by four or five lengths in the end.
This is the same race that Art Connoisseur won last year before he went on to win the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, and there is every chance that that race is on Richard Hannon's agenda for this son of Chevalier. He is reportedly really laid back at home, so much so that they weren't sure how good he was before he dotted up on his racecourse debut at Folkestone just six days before his Newmarket run. He could easily be good enough to emulate Art Connoisseur and go on to land the Coventry.
