Pilgrim Dancer
Pilgrim Dancer ran a really nice race on his racecourse debut in the five-furlong maiden at The Curragh on Sunday. Drawn in stall six of nine, he raced out in the centre of the track without cover the whole way, and came under pressure at the two-furlong pole, but he took it up at that point, and kept on really well under pressure all the way to the line to finish third, beaten a neck and a short head by Eireannach, who had had the stands rail against which to run, and Xtraxtra. It is significant that those two colts were the only two in the race who had had previous racecourse experience.
Pilgrim Dancer is a half-brother to Miss Rochester, the winner of a 10-furlong Newbury handicap last season for Michael Stoute and Cheveley Park, and Pilgrim Dancer should improve for stepping up in distance, at least to six furlongs for now.
