Silver Games
Silver Games ran an awful lot better than her finishing position in fifth place behind Cosmopolitan in a fillies' handicap at Newbury on Saturday suggests. Mick Channon's filly travelled as well as anything to the two furlong pole, and moved up menacingly a furlong out before just failing to get home, and fading right out of it inside the final 50 yards. Mentioned here before after a big run in the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot, she was arguably an unlucky loser on her previous run before Saturday in another handicap over a mile at Ascot, when she got squeezed up at a vital part of the race. The ground was too soft for her on Saturday, and it looks now like she will benefit from a drop back down in distance as well. She travels well and she has bags of pace. She would be really interesting if tried over seven furlongs on fast ground next.
