Principal Role
Principal Role put up a nice performance to finish third behind Music Show and Blue Maiden in the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket on Wednesday. Reluctant to go behind the stalls beforehand, she was a little free in the very early stages of the race, but she settled well once Tom Queally got her back in behind horses. She travelled well through the race and moved up menacingly two furlongs out, shaping as if she was going to be involved but, while she had no answer to Music Show's turn of foot, and could do nothing about the favourite's move as she breezed past, she did keep on well when she met the rising ground, running on past horses to finish third. She shaped as if she will be much better when stepped up in trip, and she could easily make up into an Oaks filly.
