Kings Destiny
Kings Destiny was an impressive winner on his seasonal debut in a good 10-furlong handicap at Lingfield last week. Michael Jarvis’s four year-old broke well and was able to tack over to take the lead in the early stages. As they turned out of the back straight, he had the whole field in trouble, still travelling within himself up front. He was pushed along to open up a three and half length gap as they came up the straight and Philip Robinson was able to ease him down and still win comfortably.
This was an authoritative display from the front by the son of Dubai Destination. He was always travelling well, he picked up well and he won easily. The second, Safari Sunup, who only made ground in the home straight, had already had a run this season finishing second behind the useful South Easter in a listed race at Kempton at the end of March. Kings Destiny beat him easily here, and the form looks solid, the race was run at a decent pace and produced a good time, just a second slower than standard. Kings Destiny was a consistent performer last year for Michael Jarvis, he finished in the first four in six of his seven runs, winning twice and finishing second to his stable companion Opinion Poll in a heritage handicap at Ascot. He looks to have strengthened again coming from three to four and may well improve for this run back on the turf.
Kings Destiny is clearly very talented, he beat Father Time in a maiden as a two-year-old and he put in some very nice performances over 10 and 12 furlongs last year. The handicapper has raised him to a mark of 107 for this win, so he may have to compete in a listed race next, but he looks likely to improve again and could well make his mark in that grade.
