Admission
The Michael Bell-trained Admission looked good in landing what appeared to be a good maiden at Yarmouth last Monday. Slowly away, he was soon settled nicely by Hayley Turner in mid-division behind a decent pace set by the John Gosden-trained hot-pot Clockmaker. He picked up nicely to take second place behind the leader a furlong out, then sustained his challenge to catch and pass Clockmaker inside the final furlong, going away impressively to win well. This was an impressive performance from the son of Azamour. He travelled noticeably well through the race, and there was a lot to like about the willing attitude that he displayed to catch and pass the year-older Clockmaker, who was obviously impressing at home. A Cheveley Park filly, Heaven Forbid, ran on well to take third and, with another nice colt of Saeed Suhail's, from the Jeremy Noseda yard, finishing fourth, this looked like a maiden with some strength in-depth.
Admission is out of the Rainbow Quest mare Eve, which makes him a half-brother to the classy November Handicap winner Charm School. He stayed this mile well on soft ground on his racecourse debut, and he shapes as if he will get further. He did show a little bit of knee action, so it may be that he needs cut in the ground to be seen at his best, but he will be interesting now when he steps up in grade.
