Indian Days
Indian Days ran a cracker in just going down to Imposing in a hot 10-furlong handicap at York on Wednesday. The son of Daylami tried to make all, setting a really strong pace that had the field well stretched out after they had gone two furlongs. He was probably pushed into going a little faster than he wanted to by the attentions of Saga De Tercey, and he may have gone too fast. The winner, third, fourth and fifth all came from the back, so the manner in which Indian Days was able to keep on to keep second place, giving best only to a highly progressive sort in Imposing, with the pair of them clear, was admirable.
He is not obviously progressive, but he carried top weight here and probably put up a career-best, and he may be under-rated next time because of the exposed look to his form. The handicapper has raised him 4lb, but he is still interesting off his new mark of 104. He was rated 106 going into the Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot last year, when he could finish only sixth, but he didn't get the run of the race that day, and that could be the race for him again this term.
