Moose Moran

Moose Moran looked good in winning in winning a 10-furlong maiden at Newbury on Saturday. He did have the benefit of going around the inside rail, but it didn't look like the gap was going to appear on the rail on time. It did though, when Bay Willow edged off it, and the Henry Cecil-trained colt quickened through the gap impressively and pulled away nicely from a well backed favourite, Abrasive, a William Haggas newcomer.

The winner is a heavy-topped horse who is apparently a little backward, he should come on appreciably for this, just his third ever run, he will probably be better with a little bit of cut in the ground and he should be better if he is stepped up to a mile and a half now. The King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot is apparently his target, and he will be of interest if he lines up in that, especially if there is an ease in the ground at Ascot this year. He has been awarded a rating of 85, and that is more than fair.
