Dafeef
Dafeef was a really impressive winner of a good Class 2 seven-furlong handicap at Salisbury on Sunday. A little slow out of stalls, the Godolphin colt moved up nicely on the stands side, improving from last to first really easily at the two-furlong pole. He drifted a bit to his right when he hit the front inside the final two furlongs, but he obviously has lots of ability, giving the impression that he was a fair bit better than his handicap mark of 90. He had hung when he won his maiden at Newmarket last August as well, but this was just his third run, he should progress again from this, and he should get even better as he gains in experience and irons his little quirks out.
He is entered in the July Cup, which gives an indication of the regard in which his connections hold him. Even if he isn't up to that type of class, he is undoubtedly useful and he will be of interest wherever he goes next.
