Traffic Guard
The stop-start pace that Paul Mulrennan dictated up front on Indian Days in the 10-furlong listed race at Goodwood on Monday didn't suit Traffic Guard, he got hampered when Class Is Class was pulled out to deliver his winning challenge, before getting going again far too late and running on well. Paul Cole's horse needs a truer pace to be at his best, especially over 10 furlongs. He is probably better over a mile and a half these days anyway. The winning time was by far the fastest of the day, just 0.07secs/furlong slower than standard, despite the moderate early pace, this was a good race, and Traffic Guard is much better than he was able to show here. He is not a fashionable horse, he is often under-bet, and he will be interesting when he runs next over a mile and a half or over a mile and two furlongs when it looks like there will be a strong pace on.
