Seeharn
Seeharn looked impressive when she quickened up nicely to beat Moonlit Garden and Gatamalata in the listed six-furlong Ballygalon Stakes at The Curragh last Friday. Kevin Prendergast’s filly showed a lot of speed to race prominently in third place off a fairly strong pace. She took it up a furlong out and while it took her a while to get the better of Moonlit Garden, she dug deep to get past Dermot Weld’s filly and she was well on top at the end, with Gatamalata coming from well off the pace to take second just before the line.
Seeharn looked really smart here, and her next stop is the Moyglare now, which her trainer won last year with Termagant. Kevin Prendergast said after the race that she hated the ground and she may have won by a lot more had there been a bit of cut, which is typical of a daughter of Pivotal. Given that, she certainly showed a lot of resolution to get the better of Moonlit Garden on ground that did not suit, having raced close to the fast pace throughout. The form looks solid, Moonlit Garden looked good in winning well over the same course and distance on her debut and she was probably the one to take out of the Queen Mary, she raced in isolation on the near side which was the slower side on the day but she still managed to finish seventh. Dermot Weld’s filly set a solid pace with Purple Glow throughout, Seeharn raced just in behind them, and it is testament to both Moonlit Garden and Seeharn that they kept going after racing prominently. Purple Glow, who is useful, eventually tired badly into second last and Gatamalata came from well off the pace to take third late on.
Seeharn looks like a promising filly now, this was only her second ever start after she won well over the same course and distance on her debut. She gave the impression here that an extra furlong would suit, which bodes well for the Moyglare, a race that is often run on easy ground.
