Rumoush

Rumoush did not seem to handle the track at all at Epsom, but she still ran a highly creditable race when finishing fourth in the Investec Oaks. Marcus Tregoning’s filly travelled okay through the first part of the race, held up in touch and racing in seventh place as they turned onto the straight. When she came under pressure here, she ran around a bit and never really got going until they passed the two-furlong marker. She picked up well from here but just missed the gap that appeared in front of her, the winner Snow Fairy, who had the momentum, beat her to it and hampered her in the process. From here, her chance had gone, but she still ran on well and, considering the circumstances, she did well to finish fourth.

Rumoush remains a high class filly and she could be underrated next time on the bare look of this run. She is a big filly and did not look at home at all around Epsom, especially when they came up the straight. She rolled around a bit and it took her a little while to find her stride. When she did begin to make some headway, she just missed her gap and was badly hampered in the process, in what was a critical point of the race. The daughter of Rahy created a favourable impression when she won the Listed Feilden Stakes at Newmarket on her seasonal debut, beating the colts fairly easily. She was on the wrong side in the 1000 Guineas, those who raced on the far side had no chance and she was second to Music Show in that group - that filly has since gone on to run a solid race in the Irish equivalent - over a distance that was almost certainly short of her best.

On this run, it is highly likely that Rumoush will be much better suited to a more conventional track, she has options in the Ribblesdale and the Irish Oaks, and she would have a major chance in either of those races.
