What's Up Pussycat

What’s Up Pussycat ran a fine race to finish third behind First City and Gobama in a Class 2 one-mile fillies’ handicap at Newbury on Saturday. Still last at the three-furlong pole, she made good ground towards the leaders two furlongs out. The race had developed on the far side at that stage however, as First City and Gobama duelled for the lead, and What’s Up Pussycat had to do a lot of running on her own on the near side to get to them. She stayed on best of all and she may have gone close to winning it had she not been hampered by the concertina effect that First City caused deep inside the final furlong.

Formerly trained by David Wachman, What’s Up Pussycat was a listed winner in Ireland and she was able to hold her own in Group 3 company on this side of the water last year. This was just her second run for David Simcock and her first run over a mile. On this evidence, she could be going over even further next time, she stayed on really well here. She is unexposed over this trip now and is still a relatively unknown prospect in England. She should come on for this run, a mark of 93 could be lenient and she should be worth following from here.
