Nouriya
Nouriya looked impressive again when winning a 10-furlong listed race at York on Friday. Michael Stoute’s filly did have the run of the race, on the rail just behind the pace-setter, the well-backed Bikini Babe, but she picked up well when Ryan Moore just encouraged her along without going for everything, and she stayed on well all the way to the line, always holding Mudaaraah, who was re-finding her best form from last year.
This was just Nouriya's fourth ever race and Michael Stoute's horses were not in good form coming into this. She won her maiden impressively on her previous run, beating Marywell, who went on to finish close to subsequent Irish Oaks third Miss Jean Brodie on her next start. She looked impressive again here, beating some decent fillies in Mudaaraah, Off Chance and Copperbeach and she looks smart. She should improve again for this experience, and she will be of interest wherever she goes next.
