Pabusar
Pabusar looked good in making all in a six-furlong maiden at Goodwood on Tuesday. Fast away, he secured an early lead towards the stands’ side of the track, travelled well under Jim Crowley and, under very little pressure, pulled two lengths clear going into the final furlong. Big Issue did make a late surge, but he was never going to catch Pabusar, with the winning margin slightly flattering to the runner-up.
This was an impressive performance from Pabusar, there were any number of exciting recruits in behind him, including the well-backed Big Issue, who was representing the red hot Hughes/Hannon team. He had been unruly in the stalls on his only previous start, which resulted in him completely missing the break and chasing the field 10 lengths in arrears. It was a similar case on his intended run at Windsor, when the starter elected to withdraw him, but he had been gelded before that run and that may have done trick now, he was much more relaxed here and he got a flying start which gave him a big advantage.
Ralph Beckett’s two-year-olds always seem to improve from run to run, so it is likely that there could be a lot more to come from Pabusar. The son of Oasis Dream is entered in the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury, and he wouldn't be out of place in that.
