Fleeting Echo

Fleeting Echo ran out a decisive winner of a seven-furlong handicap at Newbury on Saturday, and she could progress again back on a soft surface. She travelled well off a fast pace, and showed an impressive turn of foot out in the middle of the track to burst clear of useful yardstick Manassas with the field well stretched out in behind, as Watch Amigo stayed on for second.

The fast pace here over seven furlongs suited Richard Hannon’s filly well – she pulled too hard on her penultimate run before this – and she seemed to really enjoy the easy ground. The form looks solid, given that they went at a really good pace, the time was good, slower only than the two Group races on the card, and the right horses chased her home. She is only three, and even though she isn't that lightly raced for her age, she could improve again on similar ground off a similarly strong pace.
