The Real Article
Triple bumper winner The Real Article made it four wins from as many runs when he won a decent two-mile maiden hurdle at Listowel on Wednesday. Edward O’Grady’s horse was up with the pace for most of the way, he jumped really well, quickly and accurately, and he took it up just before the turn for home, which was plenty early enough, but he kept on well over the final two flights. Andrew McNamara never really had to get serious with him and he was always holding the late challenge of Riverstown.
The Real Article looks an exciting recruit to hurdles now, he jumped well and travelled well and he was chased home by the right horses, Riverstown and Far Away So Close. The Real Article is held in high regard by his trainer, who also trains his full-brother Rare Commodity, and he apparently plans to run him once more before putting him away for a spring campaign. He probably wouldn’t want the ground too soft, it was good to yielding here, which was probably just about fast enough. He is an exciting recruit, he should be better next time with this experience under his belt, and he could be even better on better ground.
