Rubi Light

Rubi Light looked good in winning on his first start over fences in Ireland and on his seasonal debut at Sligo on Thursday. Barry Geraghty decided to make the running on the Robert Hennessy-trained gelding from the start and he always appeared to be travelling well. He jumped well in front, with the exception of a mistake at the fifth fence down the back-straight, he was still just in front on the turn for home, with Streets Of Gold the only one able to come and challenge him, and he was always holding the challenger. He was probably worth a fair bit more than the winning margin of just under two lengths.

Rubi Light was a fairly decent novice hurdler last season, he beat subsequent Grade 2 novice hurdle winner Magnanimity by 12 lengths at Limerick earlier in the year. His form rather deteriorated towards the end of the year, but he has always given the impression that he is more of a chaser anyway. He won a chase in France before coming to Ireland, so unfortunately he is not a novice, but he is still an exciting prospect for the season ahead.
