Raise The Beat

Colm Murphy looks to have a nice horse on his hands now in Raise The Beat, winner of the bumper at Naas on Sunday. Settled in behind and on the inside in the early stages by Mikey Fogarty, the son of Beat All made nice progress travelling well on the run into the home straight. Still on the bridle passing the two-furlong pole as Robbie McNamara went for home on the leader and favourite Dynamic Approach, Raise The Beat picked up nicely when he was moved to the outside, and stayed on really well under just a hands-and-heels ride to come away and win nicely.

This was just Raise The Beat's third ever run. On his second start back in May, almost a year after his racecourse debut, he was the lesser fancied of two Colm Murphy-trained horses in a Down Royal bumper, yet he stayed on well to win well. This was a significant step forward on that, the runner-up Dynamic Approach from the Eddie Hales yard, had won at Thurles on his only previous start and was well backed on Sunday, and the pair of them came clear of another previous winner in Another Chieftain.

A full-brother to Star Beat, a staying hurdler and chaser, from the family of good staying chaser Billygoat Gruff, Raise The Beat should get further in time, and he is an exciting prospect.
