Beautiful Sound
The Gordon Elliott-trained Beautiful Sound missed the cut for his preferred engagement, the Kim Muir, but he ran a cracker to finish third in the Byrne Group Plate, run over a wholly inadequate two miles and five furlongs.
Niggled along passing the winning post first time, he didn’t enjoy the smoothest of passages through the race, but he stayed on best of all up the hill to finish within five lengths of the winner. He will be much better now stepped back up in trip.
Winner of a hunters’ chase at Fairyhouse in 2007, the Gigginstown House horse has obviously had problems which have curtailed his career somewhat, he has raced just five times under rules, but he has huge scope for progression as a result even though he is nine years old. He remains potentially really well handicapped, and he would be of significant interest if he took his chance in the Irish Grand National. He goes well on good ground and he is now two for two over the stiff fences at Fairyhouse.
