Immortal Verse
The Robert Collet-trained Immortal Verse showed an incredible turn of foot that took her from last to first in the Coronation Stakes on Friday.
The pace that Kevin Manning set on Claiomh Solais was strong, and it may have been that Immortal Verse benefitted by being held up out the back, a hypothesis that is backed up by the fact that it was her compatriot Nova Hawk, who was just in front of her turning for home, who chased her home. That said, the third filly, Barefoot Lady, raced handily throughout, and the probability is that the two Gallic raiders were the two best fillies in the race. The speed that Immortal Verse showed will be a potent weapon whatever pace they go anyway.
As a daughter of Pivotal, it is probable that she wouldn’t want the ground to be too fast, but she is a really exciting prospect now for the top mile races in Europe. We may have found Goldikova’s successor.
