Timesawastin
Timesawastin really impressed with the way he went about winning a two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle at Haydock last Wednesday. He jumped well out in front from the start and wasn’t headed at any point, quickening clear in good fashion between the second last and final flights, though he did well to win in the end as he demolished several flights of hurdles, including the third last and the last flight. The mistake at the last hurdle in particular really stemmed his momentum quite badly, as he lost his hind legs, and it looked as though Trustan Times would swoop past him on the run-in after that. But Timesawastin got rolling again and readily fended the second horse off, probably winning with plenty in hand. The fact that the front three finished a long way clear adds ballast to the form.
Evan Williams’s horse has always been talented, but he has been a quirky sort. However, he had earplugs in here, and he was on a left-handed track, he has hung to his left in the past, so that all helped, even though there were signs up the home straight that he was wanting to edge left. He could be an Aintree horse now, a tight left-handed track should suit him, although he possibly has to dominate from the front and that will be harder to do in a competitive race at Aintree. Williams’s horses are really running into form now after a fairly quiet spell through the winter, so there should be more to come from this fellow, especially if he can put in a better round of jumping than this. A 7lb hike for this is not harsh, he is still only six and relatively lightly-raced, and he is going to be tough to beat any time when he gets a relatively easy lead on a left-handed track.
