Heeraat
Heeraat perhaps hasn’t quite lived up to expectations thus far, having signalled considerable talent when running out an 11-length winner of a Pontefract maiden on his second start at two, but he is worth noting now after finishing third to the in-form Fulbright at Newmarket.
It was probably the intention to drop in from stall one, but he was just out to his right a little from the stalls and that left him last, which was probably not completely ideal as it turned, out as the pace held out pretty well up front, as indeed it has been doing for most of the season at Newmarket. He travelled well out the back and he made steady progress all the way through the final furlong and a half, but just a little too late. He got up to beat Rex Imperator for third, but he couldn’t challenge the front two, Fulbright and Duke Of Firenze.
This looked a strong race beforehand, the first two are both really progressive sprinters who were coming here on the back of career-best victories, and the race was run in by far the fastest comparative time on the card, bang on Racing Post par. The front two are clearly useful, but Heeraat is smart too, he did well to beat the rest from what was likely an unfavourable position at half way, and he can continue to progress with racing. The step back up to six furlongs suited him, he has been raised just 1lb, and he is of interest now. It may be that he will improve again when he steps up to seven furlongs.
