Tac De Boistron

Tac De Boistron put up another seriously impressive performance in winning the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes at Ascot on Wednesday.

Not that strong in the market beforehand, the Take Risks gelding was settled back second last of the seven runners behind a decent pace that was set by Harris Tweed, as is his wont. It was apparent from before they started the turn for home that the Marco Botti-trained gelding was travelling best of all. He loomed up on the outside of Earth Amber under a motionless Dettori as Harris Tweed weakened, and he picked up really impressively once his rider gave him a squeeze, clearing right away to win by five lengths.

This was an excellent run from Tac De Boistron on his seasonal debut, giving away 7lb and more to his rivals. He was a seriously progressive stayer for Botti last season, he was just out-stayed by Altano in the Prix du Cadran over two and a half miles, but he made amends in the Prix Royal-Oak on his last run last season over two miles, running out a really impressive winner.

He probably does need easy ground to be at his best, but when he gets it, he is a top class stayer, and all the big staying races should be on his agenda this term now. Also, he shows so much pace that he would be of interest dropped down to middle distances, especially on soft ground. He is a really talented individual.
