Ice Canyon
Ice Canyon ran a cracker to finish second in the 6f juveniles' maiden at The Curragh on Saturday. He got a little out-paced just behind the leaders when they quickened in front of him off a fairly sedate pace at the 2f pole. Once in the clear, however, he moved into third place as they passed the 1f marker, and he ran on really strongly from there. He took second place from Khukri inside the final 100 yards, and he closed on the leader The Boss Man all the way to the line, getting to within a long-looking half-length of the winner by the time they reached the winning line.
It was a fine effort from Michael Halford's horse. This was just his third run, so he should progress from it. Also, he should do better off a stronger pace, and/or stepped up to 7f. His dam won over 7f and she is a half-sister to 12f horse Penglai Pavilion. He should be able to win his maiden now without too much fuss before going on to better things.
