Red Tycoon
Very weak in the market before the 6f handicap at Haydock on Saturday, Red Tycoon ran well to finish fifth, less than 3l behind the progressive winner Ustinov and beaten just a neck by Tiger Jim for fourth. Held up through the early stages of the race, he finished off his race well to take fifth place, closest at the finish.
This was another good run from David Barron's horse, his first run back since he won a handicap at Redcar in July off a mark of 78. Raised 4lb for that win, his run here suggests that he is well up to a mark of 82. He should progress for this too, his first run back after almost two months.
He holds an entry in the Ayr Gold Cup but, with a mark of 82, it is more likely that it will be the Silver Cup or the Bronze Cup in which he will end up. He is one for one at Ayr, he won his maiden there in April last year over the Gold Cup course and distance, and he will be of interest if he does take his chance in the Silver or Bronze Cup, ideally as long as the ground does not become too soft.
